A Way of Self-Knowledge and The Threshold of The Spiritual World

These two little books, written in 1912 and 1913, represent Rudolf Steiner's most personal statement

about his own spiritual path. Reading them, we not only understand what he meant by "spiritual science"

but we are also helped to begin to practice it. Unlike natural science, spiritual science as Steiner conceived

it is not based upon sensory facts and reason, but a profound and differentiated exploration of cognitive

states opf consciousness.

Here Rudolf Steiner speaks directly of his experiences, his cognitive explorations. Each of the meditations

amd aphorisms that make up this book arises from his spiritual research and demonstrates how such spiritual

research is to be undertaken. The content is his own, but the method of consciousness - the path of attention to

our own experience - is universal.
